Homemade Ginger Ale

This homemade ginger ale is super refreshing and simple to prepare, made with just 3 ingredients, it's a delicious healthy soft drink alternative.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 big thumbs of ginger, approx 1 cup
  • 2 lemons
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 5 cups of water
  • Soda water (optional)

METHOD

  1. Roughly peel and chop the ginger into small disks/chunks. Cut lemons in half, skin on.
  2. Transfer the ginger, lemons and water to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to a simmer and cover for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the water juice to remove the ginger and lemon solids.
  4. Add honey to the obtained juice and stir well. Then, allow it to cool to room temperature.
  5. Transfer in a glass bottle (It makes approximatively 1L of ginger ale) and refrigerate for 1 hour. 
  6. Serve fresh with ice and topped with some soda water (optional).

Homemade Ginger Ale

*Keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Adapt it to your taste. Make it stronger, sweeter, turn it into a sugar-free ginger ale recipe. Or experiment with several flavored options like green tea, herbs, berries, and more. Enjoy!
